Let’s go on a quest…

On a gloomy President’s Day Monday, I set out across the San Rafael Bridge. You can see San Quentin on the lefthand side…

San Rafael Bridge

Continuing up north on CA 101, I took this exit…

Old Redwood Hwy Exit

I went down the street until I saw this stop sign…

Ross Street

Then I saw this sign on the street…

Mesa/Boogie

I decided to pull in and see what this place was…

Sales & Service

It’s the Mesa/Boogie Factory!!!

What could possibly be in store for me? Something to heave into the back of the car???

What could be under the cover? What could I have been questing for? What baby is riding in the backseat?

Mesa Mark IIC+

It’s a Mesa Boogie Mark IIC+! One of the most sought after amps of all time!

It’s also got the Simulclass mod:

Simulclass

Well, really, what happened is that a couple weeks ago I got a really great deal on a pristine Mesa Mark IIC. So clean they even put that in the invoice, “Black combo, really clean”. I paid for the “+” mod and the simulclass upgrade. While the transformer is not 100% the same as the original simulclass version, this still sounds amazing! Best cleans ever, crushing distortion that made them famous!

I wanted to get a set of IIC+ photos much like “The Boogie Files” to show legitimacy and be a fandom like in Ian’s pic on the welcome page. Believe it or not, I’ve had the factory tour and met Mike B. himself. I was hoping to shake his hand again and maybe bug him for a picture, but Rich Duvall’s done a good job at discouraging that silly business while still letting me down easy. (By the way, while I was waiting I saw Tien Lawrence walk back and forth a couple times before a few folks stopped by for a tour. Almost asked to tag along again…) If you want a more in depth, commented tour, check this Premier Guitar tour out.
